The functional Prada two-piece and massive black boots were a salute to minimalist, military dressing

Look to Bella Ramsey’s Golden Globes red carpet look. The Last of Us star wore a minimalist boxy jacket, slim-cut trousers and some stompy black boots, the latter of which look ideal for traversing the waste-strewn apocalypse of Earth, come the end of days.

English actor Bella Ramsey arrives for the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills...

Their Globes look comes from stylist Fabio Immediato, who told British Vogue that his hope was that people felt Bella looked “extremely cool and not overly ‘done’”, explaining that the blue jacket was custom Prada and based on a wool shirt from their SS23 collection.

Ramsey was at the event, hooting and hollering for their on-screen dad Pedro Pascal. They were also there as a nominee in the ‘Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama’ category, recognised for their work on HBO series, where they plays the hard as nails teenager Ellie.

Minimalism has been Ramsey’s thing since coming of age on the red carpet, challenging gender norms and the expectations of both red carpet dressing and Hollywood with looks that are sharp yet relaxed. Extremely cool and not overly ‘done’, in short.

In a Guardian interview this weekend, the actress Jodie Foster praised Ramsey’s approach to award show dressing. “There are other ways of being a woman, and it’s really important for people to see that,” she said. Foster went on to call out their look at one specific ceremony, saying, “Bella, who gave the best speech, was wearing the most perfect suit, beautifully tailored, and a middle parting and no makeup.”

The end of days Prada two-piece last night was similarly cool. Throwing an emoji salute up for Ramsey, who is out there dressing like it’s 2033 so that, someday, we can all go out in a comfortable pair of shoes.
